Panettone French Toast

Ingredients

2 ¾-inch-thick slices of Bauducco Panettone

2 eggs

1 heaping tbsp. sour cream

2 tbsp. milk

Butter or margarine

Steps

Beat eggs, sour cream and milk in a shallow, flat-bottomed dish. Place panettone slice in the dish for a minute, then turn over to soak both sides completely. Warm skillet over medium heat. Add butter or margarine to grease the skillet. Gently removed soaked panettone from dish and place into heated skillet. Cook for about

1-1/2 to 2 minutes per side for soft center, 3 minutes per side for firm center.

Spread a little butter or margarine on slice, then drizzle with pure maple syrup.

 

Additional serving suggestion: Whip ¼ cup mascarpone cheese, or cream cheese with a few drops of vanilla extract, and a little powdered sugar to taste. Spread mixture onto one of the slices, spread a fruit jam (for example, apricot) or place thinly sliced strawberries, peaches or apricots on the whipped cheese. Place second panettone slice on top; drizzle with pure maple syrup and butter or margarine.
